New running ground
Since we moved here I've been wondering where I was going to run now that I no longer have Lakeshore Drive, my favorite running spot in Bham. Luckily, our new house is only about 2 minutes from James Island County Park, which has 634 acres of open space to run and play.
John and I checked it out earlier this week and were pretty impressed with what it had to offer. Not only are there plenty of paved running/biking trails there's also a dog park, a waterpark, climbing wall, campgrounds, nice pavilions and picnic areas and a beautiful fishing pier on the marsh.

Check out that view! A very peaceful place to enjoy the sunset before or after a run!

The fishing pier where we saw several fishermen fishing for crabs.

If you look closely in the dried pluff mud, you can see little holes where the crabs dart in and out.
FYI- Pluff mud: Pluff mud is a lowcountry term to describe the dark soft soil in the marshes. Pluff mud typically has a distinct odor that is the result of some combination of bacteria, water content and climate.
